A Dolly Tree gown for Rita Johnson
A stunning dinner gown created by Dolly Tree for Rita Johnson in Stronger Than Desire in 1939
This luxurious cloth of gold dinner gown featured a long sheath-like tunic and a skirt which was two-length at the front and gathered for fullness and lengthened at the back to form a light train. The only decoration was the ornamentation at the neckline forming a bib featuring a necklace of many stranded clusters of jade grapes. The gown was created for Rita Johnson in Stronger Than Desire (1939) but may have resurfaced in her later MGM film appearances or used for publicity.
